So, are you ready to go camping?

Before you get your tent ready and head on out to the big outdoors, let’s make sure you know all of the basics of camping first. We covered part of it in our blog, The Beginner’s Guide to Camping Part One - so if you haven’t read that one yet, go check it out!

At Camping Tools, we want you to feel relaxed, prepared, and excited for your next camping trip. That’s why we’ve come up with the ultimate basic camping guide for you so that you can feel safe and ready to hit the road and explore.

Practice Pitching - Will this be your first time pitching the tent? Make sure that you try it out ahead of time at home! By practicing pitching your tent ahead of time, you’ll ensure that there are no rips or tears in the material, all equipment is in the tent bag, and you know what to do when you’re at the campsite. This way, you can avoid any potential setup disasters! It always pays to be cautious and prepared when it comes to camping.

Know the Weather and Seasons - When it comes to camping, most people think of summer - hot days and long nights of fresh air and fun outdoors. But, you can actually go camping in all seasons!

Summer camping: Summer is great because you know that the weather will be warm and you can make the most of the outdoors, from swimming in rivers to watching the stars at night!

Spring camping: Spring has cooler temperatures but still plenty of sunshine and mild weather. Spring is a great time to tour new areas and enjoy scenic sights!

Fall camping: Fall is all about smores, campfires, and keeping toasty while the temperature dips! This season is fantastic for its bright natural colors and keeping cozy by the fire.

Winter camping: While winter might not be ideal for tent camping, it’s still doable! Winter is great for winter sports so wrap up, enjoy the activities and have fun!

Enjoy Outdoor Activities - Camping is all about getting outdoors. This means a whole new range of activities and adventures you can explore while on your camping adventure! At Camping Tools, we love to do the following activities:

● Hiking

● Biking

● Fishing

● Kayaking

● Boating

● Trail running

● Horseback riding

● Bird watching

● And so much more

Camping makes it SO easy to get outside and do activities you wouldn’t normally get up to in your everyday life, so make the most of it! Embrace the outdoors and explore the area - you’ll make so many fantastic memories while you do it.

Make Sure You Know The Rules - All campsites and national parks have their own rules, so make sure you know them! There can be hefty fines if you break the rules - they’re in place not only for your safety but for everyone at the park. If you’re unsure of the rules or want some clarification, just ask a staff member at the campground. They’ll be happy to help you!

We hope that you’re feeling ready and excited for your next camping trip! In the meantime, if you’re unsure of what to pack, be sure to check out our Ultimate Camping Trip Packing Guide - so that you know you have EVERYTHING you need!
